It is with deep regret and heavy hearts that the Trustees have the taken the decision to close the Community Shop and Library at 7.30pm today (23rd March 2020), for the foreseeable future. Having a duty of care to all volunteers, it has been necessary to encourage those who are in the vulnerable bracket, to withdraw. We would like to thank those who have come forward in the past week with offers of help at this difficult time, but it has been impossible for us to guarantee the safety of volunteers. Coupled with a constant struggle to maintain supplies and obtain deliveries, we’ve been left with no alternative. Thank you, everyone, for your support in the past weeks and months, at the end of this crisis we will return, and we look forward to seeing you all then – please keep safe and well.
I’m sure you’ll all agree and when we do all return, it’ll be party time !!
Thank you again for your continued support, patience and understanding.
Overview of Our Centre
The Centre is run by a Commitee of Trustees made up of volunteers from the local community. It is entirely self-funded, covering running costs through user fees supplemented by fundraising.
Every fortnight, on alternate Thursdays there is an open invitation to attend Trawden Forest Friendship Group. Times and dates can be found on our Calendar.
The Centre is made up of two function rooms – The Main Hall and The Lounge. Both rooms are hatch served from the Kitchen and in addition the Main Hall is served by a licensed bar.
Many regular groups meet at the Centre – you can check out our calendar of the meetings and events. The Community Centre has been used for many private and community events. If you would like to learn more about using the Centre for your event check out our bookings pages.
Taking pride in our centre and working hard to continue improving it for everyone
The Trustees all play an integral role in the success of Trawden Forest Community Centre, Library and Shop. As well as their active participation in the general running of the centre, several Trustees have additional duties.
Without this fabulous mix of personalities and backgrounds Trawden Forest Community would not be where it is today. Everyone brings something to ‘the table’ and keeps the centre alive and flourishing.
The Trustees – and indeed the centre also have the support of a team of fantastic volunteers that enable us to put on events both public and private throughout the year. The Trawden Dressers have been born from this and they are always open to new people to assist in decorating the Centre for events. Merriment is generally guaranteed.
There is a sub-committee of Trustees and Volunteers who take care of the day to day operations of the Library and Shop.
If you would like more information about being a Trustee or a Volunteer please get in touch with us.
